Chapter 1: The Evil of the Future --------------------------------- The sage was laying on the bed. He had been possessed, or driven insane by something. He had only said one word for the past few days: "Kefka..." The last time he was this sick, he had predicted the coming of the villain Chaos. Lukahn hurried into the room with an herb. "Here, brother," he said, "take this herb. It comes from the town of Lefein. It was hard to acquire, and many soldiers are wounded because they went to get it, but it should help you." "Oh, why is the world changing?" said the sage. "I thought that if the chosen four lighted the four orbs, and defeated Chaos, peace would reign. And now that I look into the future, I see a great evil." "Kefka?" Lukahn inquired. "Of course! He is the root of all evil. He controls magic, and the world!" he paused for a moment, then continued. "Someone must go to the future to stop him!" "The four chosen ones, sir? How will we contact them? They are probably in Coneria, or somewhere far like that. With the world as it is, it would be too hard to contact them!" "No... a sage must go. Someone with magic. Someone... with..." he stopped. He noticed another presence in the room. He looked over by the door. Two mages were there. Sarda and Matoya were looking at the sage as if he was insane. "Sarda, Matoya, thank you for coming," said Lukahn. "He is in critical condition. He keeps speaking of a great -" "Let me guess," interrupted Matoya. "Akfek Live? I don't know, my brooms have been chanting it for the past few days." "But Matoya," said Sarda, "remember, your pitiful fortune tellers speak backwards. They mean Evil Kefka, whatever that means, of course." Then the sage screamed. "Someone must go! There will be no magic! Someone must help! A sage will go! And HELP the future!" "No magic?" said Sarda. "But I had the same vision!"
