Chapter 2: To the Future! ------------------------- It was established by the head sage that one of the other sages was to go to the future to defeat Kefka. Lukahn could have gone, but he didn't wan't to. "Lukahn," said Sarda, "you know the most spells, and you are the only one of us who wants to completely abolish evil! You must go!" "But," said Lukahn, "as you said, there will be no magic in the future. Kefka controls it, or something like that. Also, I can live with evil, but just not around it." "Lukahn..." said the sage, "I am weak... please, fulfill my hopes and help us defeat the evil of the future... please!" Lukahn stopped and contemplated what would happen. He would leave behind everything he knows. "I have no family," he said, "so I will go. Since you told me that there would be no magic, how will I fight evil?" Sarda pulled out a scarab out of his robe and held it to the light. "The words on the back you read," he said, "and it should produce strong black magic. It is the Ryukahn Scarab, from the desert." Then Matoya pulled out a little rock. She threw it into the air, and it started to float above them. "'Tis the floater," she said. "Somehow, it will help you fly or float. It isn't much, but, it was given to me by the Chosen Warriors. It must have some sentemental value!" "Now," said the sage, "you must stand in the middle of the circle of mages. Sarda, you take Lukahn's place, over by the bush. Matoya, you come over by me. We shall now start chanting the Parchment Incantation." Everyone made the moves and everyone in the circle started chanting. Lukahn looked around. The world he was in started to fade away, as if it was a dream. Every mage seemed to disappear, and what appeared in their place was a dreadful landscape. A man was next to Lukahn. "Oh," he said, "am I glad you're awake. You were just lying there. You seem familiar." "Who are you?" said Lukahn. "And where is Kefka?" The man started laughing. "Kefka? He died long ago! You shouldn't worry about him! Do you need any help?" "No, I'm fine..." Then Lukahn started thinking out loud, "They must have sent me to far to the future... They didn't need me after all! You can leave me alone now, I'm fine." The man walked away. Lukahn looked around. "Great. I guess I am stuck here. But... what can I do about it?"
