Chapter 12: Goddesses Unlimited ------------------------------- Natasha watched from a distance at her new found friends, the Returners. Banon was wise. He was someone Natasha could look up to, if need be. Something about the old Returner seemed familiar. Like she had met him before, but not recently. Seeing that her mind was already clouded with this Enygma character, and then this war she just happened to fall into, which involves an army that SHOULD be hers, Natasha played it off. Surely there was a rational explination for the occurance. Natasha then looked at Scarecrow. A man in black. A man who claims to have no heart. This was only a cover-up, however. Natasha could feel this when she saw Scarecrow put his own life on the line so that the Knives would not be harmed when Renshield had them cornered. Even if he didn't admit it, Scarecrow had a heart of some kind, or he wouldn't be on the side he's on. She watched as Banon and Scarecrow sent the Knives out to do something. She then whipped out her silver blade and tried to mark the red blood stains from it. The two Returners apporached her after a while. "I forgot to commend you on some excellent fighting," Scarecrow said to her. "Yes," Banon quickly followed, "The Returners are proud to have you." "Thank you both," Natasha smiled with a wink, "I try my best." "You truely are a rare find in today's world," Banon smiled back. Natasha giggled, "Why thank you, Banon," then turning her attention to Scarecrow, "If you don't mind me asking, how in the world did you know who I was, and how much do you know?" "I know your assumed name is Natasha Toni Chase," Scarecrow replied, "But your real name is Natasha Chase Gestahl." "Gestahl?" Banon cocked his eyerbow, "You are the daughter of the former Emperor?" "Yeah," Natasha continued to wipe down her blade, "That is me. I'm not proud of that fact though." "Interesting," Banon grumbled, going into deep thought about something. "I also know that your fighting skills are legendary," Scarecrow contined, "And a welcome face to the Returner camp." "Thank you," Natasha giggled again, "I do have some pressing matters to attend to, however." "You mean defeating Enygma," Scarecrow implied. "Well, if I got the chance, yes," Natasha looked puzzled, "How do you know of Enygma?" "Let's just say we've met," Scarecrow snickered, "I hear alot of things through rumor as well." "Well, I also have to do what I said I was going to do," Natasha gave up on the sword, "I must free the Goddesses from the Magicite in my bag." "Magicite?!" Banon twirled, "Where in the world did you get Magicite?" "Enygma left it in cowardness when I defeated him before all hell broke loose in Jidoor," Natasha proudly boasted. "Well then," Scarecrow insisted, "Free them." "Yes, I would like to see the Goddesses for myself," Banon inserted. "Very well," Natasha smiled, "I will finally find out about my past." She took the two stones from her bag and displayed them to the two men before slamming them together, shattering them completely. A bright green light shown from the explosion. It was so bright, Natasha and Banon had to hide their eyes, Scarecrow acted like the light did not effect him. After the flash, Natasha looked to see two beautiful women, floating side by side. "Well done," the Goddesses said at the same time, "You have done well, Natasha, daughter of Gestahl." "I have had a long journey!" Natasha yelled. "We know," the Goddesses replied, "We shall tell you of your past." Banon quietly whispered to Scarecrow during all of this, "Something is not right here, Scarecrow." "I know that," Scarecrow replied, "But I want to see where this goes, so just watch." The Goddesses started on their story: "Natasha, your father, Gestahl, ruled the city of Vector with an iron fist. However, his greed for power forced him to dip into the world of science. His scientists found out several startling discoveries. The most effective being the way one could alter genetic codes by tampering with the DNA of both the egg and sperm cells, before fertilization. It was a way to take human life and mold it into anything they wanted. Gestahl only wanted one thing, power..so his scientists began work on the perfect genetic soldier. After a search of the entire world, a beautful woman as brought to the Emperor. The scientists took her DNA and fused it with his. The scientists further altered the cells so that the offspring would not only be genetically perfect, but could perform almost super human feats. The cells fertilized and were implanted back into the woman. Before the baby could be born, however, she escaped from Vector. Later she gave birth. However, the results were stunning, this baby was not at all what the Empire would expect. Those scientists were blinded by the fact of a perfect solider, they forgot to alter the simplest detail, the gender of the child. This child, gentically perfect and superior to other humans in every way, was FEMALE. She left the baby on the doorstep in Jidoor, hoping that your father would never find it. This baby's name was Natasha....."
