Tucker was walking absentmindedly along the barren streets of Jidoor, watching as the people rebuilt their homes, the ones that would last this time, hopefully. Trailing a few feet behind him was the small figure of Nekko and behind her was her cat, yet to be named. "So, Nekko, have you thought of a name for your cat?" he asked. "I haven't really thought about it." she replied. "I was considering... Alphador... or maybe... Felicia... but I don't know yet." Tucker stooped over, bending to pluck the small cat from the ground. It just mewled quietly at him. "I think... it looks like a Felicia." he said, jokingly. The three continued upon their journey to nowhere. "You know," Tucker said to no one in particular, "a great adventurer once said, 'A man is no adventurer without allies.' I think it's high time that I went out in search of my oldest ally and greatest friend, Garland. What do you think, Nekko?" "Um... okay..." she said, slightly confused. "He's a good guy." "Okay!" She immediately perked up. Tucker checked his left bracer and read some of the technical stuff off his pad. "Hm... from what I can read, Garland is somewhere over the waters, to the north-east. I don't have many options... I could find Setzer and hitch a ride, but he may not have finished his new airship yet. I could fix my teleporter, which is shot, but that means I need to find some spare parts. I could learn to fly..." he said glancing over at Nekko, "but that's rather unrealistic." He looked up at the sky, marvelling at the power that the birds possesed that he needed rather badly at the moment. Then, he tripped and fell face first into the mud. "Man! Today isn't my lucky day!" he cried, as Nekko helped him up. He took a look at what he tripped over and was shocked. "It's some kind of technological device! Spare parts! This _is_ my lucky day!" Quickly running a parts scan on the object, he made an inventory of all the useable parts. "Cool! A dual-chamber flux light inhibitor!" he said as he plucked a part from the ground. He pulled his broken cloaking device from his sachel and installed the relatively new part with the broken old part. "Now I have an operational cloak!" He looked over the parts list again. "Damn, it really isn't my day! There's nothing here to fix my teleporter unit!" He sighed. Meanwhile, as he was busy, Nekko was meddling around with the pile of robotic parts and accidentally stumbled upon the true nature of the object. "I am DoomGaze. How may I be of service?" Tucker spun around, drawing his sword in one fluid motion. The creature spread it's wings and rose several feet off the ground. "A flying machine!" he said, making thanks to the gods. "Man, the fates must have a ball playing with my lines. "Hmm... now I wonder how I fly this thing." * * * "Wheee!" Nekko cried as she hung on to the back of the flying beast, riding the winds. Tucker had spent many hours learning to steer the thing, many hours failing, and a few minutes realizing that he could uplink directly with it's guidence control with his visor and VR gear. Log 30 I now go out in search of Garland, riding some arcane magical robotic beast, Nekko and her cat behind me. It's amazing seeing the world out of the eyes of a flying creature, living like the wind, air playing with your entire destiny. I have always dreamed to fly and now I know what it's like. Tucker's gauntlet began to beep, snapping Tucker out of his VR mode, almost causing the creature to crash. "Hey, we're right above Doma.. isn't that Empire territory?" Tucker landed the beast, disconnected himself from the machine and braced himself for the worst. * * * Tucker peeked from around a tree and looked for a way in. The place was pretty heavily guarded.. he had to figure out a hole in their defenses. "Aw, heck, this works in the movies." he said. He turned to Nekko and looked at her. "Nekko, now whatever happens, don't panic, okay? We're going into the bad-guy place, okay? I want you to act like nothing is wrong and everything will be okay." Nekko nodded. Tucker brushed out his cloak and walked onto the main road to Doma. He marched, Nekko a few steps behind him, right through the front gate of Doma, acting as if he owned the place. He proceeded through the front gates without any difficulty. "Wow..." he said to himself. "It works." "HALT!" he heard from several paces behind him as he entered the main chamber. "I was so close." he said to himself once again. He ignored the guard and kept walking, hoping that Nekko was following suit. "I said HALT!" a guard said, running up to him. Tucker stoped, pretended to act confused and turned to look at the guard. "Are you talking to me?" he asked. "Yes sir, I'm afraid I'll need authorization for you to enter. no trespassers allowed because of all the Returner activity going on." "Do I look like a Returner to you? I'll have you know, I am _the_ Tucker Pendragon, fifth to the house Ordos, holder of the sacred chalice of Betazed! How dare you ask royalty to 'HALT!'" Tucker said, stepping right into the guard's face. The guard was inexperienced and backed away in fear. "Next time you ask someone to halt, make sure they are a Returner BEFORE you go around yelling 'HALT!'" "Alright, sir... I...I'm sorry." he said. "I'll let you be on your way, sir. I'm really dreadfully sorry." "Well, you'd better be... what is your name and your I.D. pin number? I'm reporting you to your commander!" "Sir?" "Well? I'm waiting!" "Ah... Jones, sir... number 6632!" "Well then, on your way... and pray you have a job tomorrow!" Tucker said, marching off. He grinned as he walked away.
