This kind of thing isn't called for.  If you can't handle calm 
observations about your suggestions, do everyone a favor and stay away 
from mailing lists.

If you must have this feature, despite all of the difficulties and 
disadvantages others have pointed out, a constructive response at this 
point would be creating a proof-of-concept modification and posting a 
link to it.  After all, this is the coding list.
