[IRCServices] RE: my recent feature request

Posting on the list is actually the preferred method of requesting
features; however, I don't always respond immediately--sometimes (as here)
I like to wait and see what other reaction there is from the community.
(On the other hand, I shoot down things I don't like or things in the FAQ
immediately--so not seeing any response from me may be a good sign. ;) )

As far as the feature itself goes, I'm ambivalent at the moment; I
certainly understand the need for security, but on the whole Services isn't
designed to be controllable from outside IRC, and I'm hesitant about adding
in a hack for that purpose without giving it some good design thought.
What you might want to try doing is writing a module, say nickserv/regcrypt,
that borrows from do_register() in nickserv/main.c; that's more portable
than patching the distributed code directly.
