ncftp /pub/linux/kernel/v2.4 > ls -al LAT*
-rw-rw-r--    1 406      429             0 Nov 28 23:54 LATEST-IS-2.4.20

You should try 2.2.25 or better take a 2.4 Kernel... perhaps
2.4.18-2.4.20.

If you think, 2.2.16 is not too old, I think you live behind the moon...

On ftp.de.kernel.org, the kernel files for 2.2.16 are from June 7th
2000. I think, that's really old...
